Yes, installing an aftermarket brake controller to activate the electric brakes on your trailer will disable all of the functions of the OEM controller in your 2011 Ford F-450 Super Duty.
You will also need to take the vehicle to the dealer to have the PCM ( powertrain control module) flashed to eliminate the fault code that will be displayed because the OEM brake controller is disabled. What I would recommend is a backup camera installed at the rear of your horse trailer that has night vision so that you can see what's beyond the glare and the trailer you mentioned. We do have a potential solution for you, but Lance campers use a proprietary plug, and there is not any adapter for your Lance camper that we are aware of. Firestone Inflation Valve # F3032-1 directly accepts standard 1/4-inch air line tubing like # F99ZR. You'll need to make a perfectly square cut on the end of the tubing, using a cutting tool like # AL10530, and insert it into the end of the valve shown in the photo. The first thing you will want to do is ensure you have greased the bottom of the foot assembly on the adapter. Per the instructions, if you are still having difficulty while placing the feet into the factory foot packs, you will need to loosen the 1" jam nuts on the adapter inside of the rail. Once all the jam nuts are loose, you can then try to mount the feet into the factory pucks. While I have not heard of failures or reasons why the lower jaw would need to be replaced, a Trailair Air Ride such as # LC158778 is going to be more prone to chucking than the upgraded Trailair Flex Air such as # LC369535.
